LFA Scholars Program: Services and Activities

The Linda Frances Alexander (LFA) Scholars Program provides a robust set of services and activities designed to support academic success, leadership development, and personal growth. 

Pre-Matriculation Residential Program 

A week-long immersive experience before the academic year begins, introducing scholars to UC Davis, campus resources, and peer connections. 

Individualized Academic Advising 

Personalized guidance from CADSS advisors to support academic planning and long-term success. 

Quarterly Academic Check-Ins 

Required meetings during Weeks 3 and 7 of each quarter, including consultations with professors and TAs as part of an early alert system. 

Ongoing Academic & Co-Curricular Support 

Regular engagement with college and major advisors, along with CADSS staff, to ensure scholars are thriving. 

Success Coaching & Intervention Planning 

Targeted support to address academic challenges and promote resilience and achievement. 

LFA Seminars (Fall & Winter Quarters) 

Mandatory 2-unit courses focused on strategies for academic, personal success and research 

Cohort-Based Programming 

Shared experiences and events that foster community, cultural exploration, personal and professional development. 

Peer Mentorship & Staff Engagement 

Regular check-ins with peer mentors and program staff to build relationships and provide holistic support. 

Campus & Community Resource Referrals 

Connections to essential services and opportunities that enhance student well-being and success. 

Community-Building Events 

Social gatherings and activities that strengthen peer bonds and cultivate a sense of belonging. 

Career & Post-Graduate Exploration 

Advising and programming to support career exploration and preparation for life after graduation. 

Research & Leadership Development 

Participation in a cohort research project, culminating in a presentation at the LFA Research Symposium during Winter Quarter.
