The Center for African Diaspora Student Success (CADSS) is a dedicated space for African Diaspora students to thrive academically, socially, and culturally. CADSS fosters a sense of belonging and empowerment by providing a variety of tools, resources, and opportunities that support students’ holistic development and transformation throughout their college journey.
Key resources and services offered by CADSS include:
- Networking opportunities: Facilitate connections among students, staff, faculty, and community members to build a strong, supportive network.
- Food Pantry: Ensure access to essential nutritional resources to alleviate food insecurity.
- Hair Closet: Provide culturally specific hair care products and resources that celebrate and maintain Black hair and identity. This initiative is sponsored by EOP (The Center for Educational Opportunity Program) at UC Davis.
- Tutoring: Offer academic support tailored to students' needs to foster academic excellence.
- Campus Partnerships: we partner with our campus partners to provide drop in and appointment based services in our center and virtually to enhance student academic and co-curricular pursuits.
- Employment opportunities: Create meaningful on-campus job opportunities that help students develop professional skills.
- Summer Pre-Matriculation Program (LFA Scholars): Prepare incoming students for a successful transition to college life through tailored programming.
- Cultural resources and materials: Celebrate the rich heritage and diversity of the African Diaspora through access to books, media, and artifacts.
- Computer Lab: Provide access to technology for academic and personal use.
- Community Lounge: Offer a welcoming space for relaxation, collaboration, and cultural expression.
By centering the experiences and needs of African Diaspora students, CADSS cultivates an inclusive environment where students feel seen, heard, and supported as they pursue their goals and aspirations.
