This program continues through the entire academic year.

The Linda Frances Alexander Scholars Program (LFA) is a comprehensive academic, social, and cultural enrichment initiative designed to confront barriers faced by students from the African Diaspora and support students from historically underrepresented, underserved, and culturally diverse backgrounds achieving educational excellence and preparing for success in a competitive global society. The program welcomes incoming first-year and transfer students and supports their transition into university life through their first academic year at UC Davis.

The experience begins with a week-long, on-campus residential program held before the start of the academic year. This immersive introduction to university life focuses on goal setting, leadership development, academic advising, and an overview of campus expectations. Participants benefit from mentorship by previous LFA Scholars who provide guidance and insight during the summer transition.

Throughout the academic year, LFA Scholars engage in a range of services and activities that promote academic success, personal development, and community involvement. A key component of the program is the LFA Seminar, offered during the Fall Quarter, which fosters academic preparedness and personal growth.

LFA Scholars emerge as student leaders who demonstrate academic excellence, civic engagement, and a commitment to contributing positively to the campus and broader community.
